Designed with installation ease firmly in mind, roofers can typically install the LUMA Solar Roof Kit within one day with 2 people. This speed and ease enables roofers to substantially reduce their costs and get more work done in a day.  These product characteristics are so important that the LUMA Solar Roof Kit won the votes of their industry peers and took First Place as the “Best New Product” of the 2008 International Roofing Expo.”

Most residential solar roof applications today are unattractive.  Recognizing this issue, LUMA designed its Roofing Kit to match the horizontal lines of almost every residential roof type, making it appear to flow with the roof around it. LUMA’s prospective customers are telling LUMA that their customers will like the way the LUMA Roof looks.

LUMA Solar Roof kits are available in thin-film and crystalline PV versions.  Sold directly to residential home builders and roofers, the kits come with all balance of system components (wiring, inverters, lightning protection, siding, underlayment, etc.) needed for installation. LUMA designed and patented several key components that make it very easy for roofers to quickly lay the PV roof on residential homes, and to attractively integrate the solar portion of the roof with the remaining roof.  One innovative component of the LUMA kit is an easy-to-attach electrical coupling device that eliminates the need for an electrician to be on the roof during installation.  The LUMA kit’s stacking shingle design enables roofers to install a 2 kW system in half or even a third of the time it takes to install a conventional PV system.
